From a one-bedroom apartment in 2007 to a beautiful showroom and headquarters today, Priyanka and her husband Gautama have built an empire on ethically sourced virgin Indian hair from temple tonsure rituals, proving that your most beautiful self is looking right back at you in the mirror—you just need the right tools to discover it.

Founded in 2008: A Mission Born from Pain

Perfect Locks was founded with a clear purpose: to give women the options and tools to love their reflection. Priyanka's personal journey from shame to self-love became the foundation for helping thousands of women across the globe achieve complete control over their appearance.

The Beginning: 2007 - One-Bedroom Apartment Dreams

Out of a one-bedroom apartment, Priyanka and her husband Gautama launch a simple website and import some of the first Virgin Indian Hair into the United States. Perfect Locks is born with 3 products: machine wefts in one texture, 3 thread hand-tied wefts, and bulk hair.

The Hustle: 2009 - Garage Operations and Growing Family

With family and business growing, Gautama and Priyanka moved to a 3-bedroom home, operating Perfect Locks out of their garage. Over the next few years Priyanka would juggle being a mother to 2 children and also being an entrepreneur. Perfect Locks adds closures, frontals and tape-in extensions to its catalog.

The First Story: 2012 - Brand Takes Off

The Perfect Locks brand takes off and Priyanka and Gautama move into an office space. The brand is redesigned and relaunched. Local interest began for a walk-in showroom in the community. Perfect Locks expands its offerings to include multiple textures, clip-ins, wigs and new tape-in types.

Growing Fast: 2015 - Retail Showroom Unveiled

With Perfect Locks business rapidly expanded and a growing need for a local store for wigs and extensions, Priyanka and Gautama expand to an adjacent office space. A retail showroom is unveiled much to the delight of local customers. Long term plans for a permanent office and showroom begin.

Retail Store & Salon: 2017 - Brand New Headquarters

The Perfect Locks business moves into a brand-new showroom and headquarters where it remains today. An exclusive wig room and salon space allow local customers to shop discretely and be fitted perfectly. Priyanka begins focusing on scaling their team with the right people and skill sets to take the brand further.

"When I was a little girl growing up in Bangalore, India I was born with skin just a little too dark and hair that was far too curly. In that time and in that place, I didn't fit the beauty ideal and was bullied and called ugly. I'd see models in magazines with beautifully sleek straight or just slightly wavy hair and compare myself to them and wish I could have hair like that."

"The inner shame I felt in the mirror for the beauty I was born with, was something I promised myself I'd overcome." This childhood promise became the driving force behind Perfect Locks' mission to help women everywhere love their reflection.

A Beautiful Gift From The Temples Of India

My lifelong personal and spiritual quest to attain the hair that I wanted led me to the temples in India, where women undergo the ritual of Tonsure. This selfless act is meant to be a process of "letting go", offering our hair to a higher power to attain spiritual enlightenment.

The Sacred Tonsure Ritual

More importantly, their gift of hair is passed on to other women in the form of extensions, hairpieces and wigs. It is an act that is as beautifully brave as it is fearlessly feminine. For the giftor they are enlightened, for the giftee they are filled with hope and empowerment.
