Inspired by Southern California’s culture of self-care and the abundance of East Asian influences, Carol created ALDA Nail as a complete nail care system — powered by decades of professional research and built for everyone from novices to professionals.
The Founder’s Story
Carol Ma had an unconventional upbringing — bouncing between California and Taipei, Taiwan for much of her adolescence. That bicultural experience gave her a unique lens on beauty, design, and self-care. Her time at Parsons cemented an equal love of form and function, and California’s abundance of East Asian influences called her back.
It’s in Southern California that Carol was inspired by a culture of self-care and commitment to wellness. She saw a gap: salon-quality GelX nails required a salon. So she built a system to change that — powered by decades of professional nailcare industry research and the mindset of a nail “enginerd.”
