Alak began experimenting in the kitchen, bringing her interest in Ayurveda into recipes built around Kushal’s favorite indulgence. Kushal became the official taste tester, offering the honest feedback that helped them refine the idea. Elements grew from that partnership: a love of chocolate, a different set of priorities, and the willingness to follow them.

In the founders’ account, the idea was born through conversation, experimentation, and a shared affection for chocolate. Alak brought the recipes; Kushal brought an enthusiastic appetite and candid opinions.

Meet Alak Vasa

Alak previously worked as an algorithmic trader at Goldman Sachs and studied Computer Science at the University of Southern California. She is also a certified meditation and wellness instructor with the Art of Living Foundation.

She describes herself as an “approximate chef,” creating meals intuitively rather than following every measurement rigidly. Love is the ingredient she names as her secret, and away from the kitchen she practices the cello.

Meet Kushal M. Choksi

Kushal’s background includes leadership roles at Goldman Sachs and BlackRock, followed by co-founding Hubbl, which was later acquired by Airpush. He is a Carnegie Mellon graduate and the author of On a Wing and a Prayer, published by Penguin Random House.

He serves on the board of the International Association for Human Values. Music and doodling add another creative dimension to his story, alongside his role as Alak’s chocolate taste tester.
