Michael's Story: Crohn's Disease, Biologics, and a Full Recovery Through Animal-Based Living

Michael grew up in an immigrant household in NYC, raised on home-cooked food centered around meat, fruits, vegetables, and soup. As he got older, fast food became a daily staple. At age 19, while dorming in college, he began experiencing frequent diarrhea, unbearable stomach pain, and blood in his stool — and was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. He was put on powerful injectable biologic medications, first adalimumab, then ustekinumab, as symptoms continued to worsen and eventually landed him in the ER. Despite CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, colonoscopies, and endoscopies, his GI doctors could not explain what was wrong. It was at that point Michael committed fully to his health. For the first time, he went fully animal-based — eating nothing but organic fruits, vegetables, grass-finished ruminant meat and organ meat, and organic white rice. After about two months, his symptoms began to subside. Against the advice of his world-renowned GI doctor, he came off his medication completely. All his tests came back not only normal, but amazingly healthy. This transformation became the mission behind Grazly.

Matthew's Story: Obesity, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Complete Remission Through Animal-Based Living

Matthew grew up as a first-generation American, and by age 16 was clinically obese at 240 lbs at 5'9, struggling with mental instability and physical issues stemming from his weight. His pursuit of weight loss through low-calorie alternatives and chemical additives led to severe joint pain and a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis at age 17 — prescribed methotrexate, a chemotherapy and immunosuppressive drug. By his freshman year of college, he had lost significant weight and was lifting regularly, but joint pain persisted. That summer, he fully embraced the animal-based lifestyle — consuming only meat, organs, fruit, honey, and raw dairy, eliminating toxic elements from his environment, and filtering all his water. His joint pain disappeared. By the end of the summer he was completely off methotrexate. As of 2022, his disease is in complete remission. Incorporating organ meats was instrumental in boosting his energy, meeting micronutrient goals, and improving overall well-being — and that experience became the foundation for Grazly.
