The Rebrand — From Minaret To Laek
Originally named after the majestic Minaret mountains in the Sierra Nevada Range — renowned for breathtaking jagged peaks — the name was often confused with the Islamic term “minaret,” creating difficulty in searches and recall. Jordan spent months thinking and researching a name related to depths, lengths, distances, locations, and the diverse environments their products are made for.
Why “Laek”?
The “a” and the “e” reflect one another — creating symmetry and intrigue. A unique spelling for a unique brand.
“I thought ‘lake’ was the perfect word to describe those things, but it just didn’t feel quite right for the unique brand we’re creating. It needed to be catchy, short, memorable, and evoke emotion when seen.”
