CarterCountryMeats is rooted in cattle ranching and a belief that food begins with the ground beneath it. That history also gives context to something you might not expect from a meat company: a small collection of tallow-based skincare made by rancher Annia.

A Family Beginning In 1964

In 1964, Mark Johnson Carter moved his young family from their ranch in Bozeman, Montana, to Ten Sleep, Wyoming. The move covered 280 miles and opened a new chapter on a landscape with as much work ahead as promise.

Keeping that land in the family took more than a vision. The family credits Richard, raised as one of eleven children, with the grit and self-reliance that helped the ranch endure difficult markets and low cattle prices.

Local Honey, A Shared Landscape

For PURELY Original, the ranch names local beekeepers 307 Honey as its honey source. It also describes hosting hives in its fields during the warmer months.

That detail gives the formula another connection to the place it comes from. Alongside the tallow, honey becomes part of a product story involving both ranch work and the people working nearby.

Frankincense and myrrh add an aromatic botanical direction, while rosehip seed oil brings another plant oil to the blend. Choose Original because those ingredients and that kind of rich moisturizer appeal to you, rather than expecting a treatment for a skin condition.

Electric offers a different ingredient profile from Original, with coffee bean extract, squalane, and a copper peptide rather than its honey-and-aromatic-oil combination.

Free leaves out the added fragrance direction, but it is not plain tallow. Its snail mucin, pearl powder, jojoba, and sea buckthorn make it its own formula. None of these tallow products is vegan.

Review the complete ingredient list for allergies and sensitivities. A patch test is a sensible first step, particularly with honey or aromatic oils, and “natural” does not mean every formula will suit every person.
