It Started With A Reaction
As a little girl, founder Sandee Ferman had a bad reaction to a perfume — red welts, irritated skin, and a lasting wariness of what was actually in everyday products. As a teenager, she was one of the participants in the very first Earth Day. The thread connecting those two moments never went away.
Decades later, a trip to the grocery store and a closer look at a “natural” shampoo label made it click. The product was full of harsh, drying detergents — the kind quietly causing the scalp issues she’d been dealing with. That moment of frustration became the founding idea for No Tox Life®.

Starting in 2013 with hundreds of hours of testing and experimentation, Sandee merged her passions for math, science, and art into a soapmaking practice. What began as gifts for friends and family became a certified woman-owned business with a loyal following across thousands of stores.
Callie Milford
Co-Founder & Creative Director
Sandee’s daughter Callie shapes the look and direction of the brand — designing and formulating new products alongside Sandee, and managing the relationships with the thousands of independent grocery, zero waste, and lifestyle stores that carry the line.
