While traveling frequently with her husband, Jami often applied makeup in the car or while on the go. Finding water wasn’t always convenient, and a dry sponge wasn’t the experience she wanted.
That real-world problem made the missing tool obvious: a sponge that stayed soft, portable, and ready whenever makeup was needed.
From A Travel Problem To A Beauty Innovation
Jami decided to create the product she had been waiting for. The goal wasn’t to add complexity to a makeup routine. It was to remove a small but persistent extra step and make application more convenient.
The idea addressed a pain point many makeup wearers had simply accepted. A beauty sponge could be useful on the road, but only if water was nearby. StansOut challenged that assumption.

Jami had sketches for the shape, but the first physical experiment was decidedly unconventional. Without specialized sponge-cutting tools, the team used a metal angle grinder to bring the design to life. The rough cut revealed a shape Jami immediately loved for its functionality, with the bonus of looking like a diamond.
