The story began when the founders’ son was diagnosed with autism and severe gastrointestinal issues at two years old. His parents chose a strict gluten-free and dairy-free nutrition program as part of the support they were building around him, and that experience changed the way they thought about food, ingredients, and inclusion.

It All Began With A Family

In the family’s story, nutritional changes helped their son’s body absorb nutrients more effectively and gave him a stronger foundation for the therapies supporting his development. Within three years, they describe him as thriving in a mainstream classroom and doing well academically and socially.

The brand does not frame this journey as a one-size-fits-all answer. Instead, it carries forward the care that began at home: listen closely, choose ingredients thoughtfully, and make something people are genuinely excited to eat.

A Bakery Built For Community

In March 2020, Amrita Health Foods opened a dedicated allergen-free bakery in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The bakery is housed in a historic 100-year-old building, giving the company a place to make snacks and create a welcoming community space.

Looking ahead, the team hopes to host snack-making classes and welcome families through the doors. It is another expression of the brand’s belief that food can connect people, teach something new, and make room for everyone.
