A lifelong love of making things became a Colorado skincare business, one thoughtful formula at a time.
Shop Tallow Skin Co. ↓Melissa had dreamed of building something of her own. She just did not expect it to be skincare. Then she discovered tallow, made her first balm, and found a new outlet for a curiosity that had been with her since childhood.
She had been cooking since she was four and already appreciated traditional ingredients. Working with them in a skincare formula felt surprisingly natural. One homemade balm became the beginning of Tallow Skin Co.
Where It Began
A Small Beginning, Made Official
On July 1, 2023, Melissa’s idea became a business. The collection has grown since then, but she describes the same affection for making products and sharing the process with the people who use them.
Every jar, bar, bottle, and tube represents another question she wanted to explore. Her family helps handcraft the products in small batches in Colorado.

The first balm grew into the official launch of Tallow Skin Co.
Late 2023
Melissa shared deodorant samples with nearly one hundred people and listened to their feedback.
January 2024
The tallow deodorant launched, becoming the brand’s best-selling product.
The Experiment That Surprised Her
Natural deodorant felt like a daunting next project. Melissa had struggled to find one that suited her skin and kept odor away as long as she wanted.
She researched well-reviewed products, compared ingredient lists, and began developing her own formula. When her first version worked well for her, she was surprised enough to keep testing rather than rush it onto the shelf.
Between November and December 2023, she sent samples to nearly one hundred people. Positive feedback gave her the confidence to launch. Those experiences explain her enthusiasm, without promising that every customer will have the same skin response or wear time.
Choose Your Deodorant Mood
The current magnesium deodorants pair a tallow base with magnesium and zinc. Their individual scent profiles give the collection a playful side.
Dark Roast
Coffee-forward notes of espresso, vanilla, hazelnut, and cacao. The listing describes a slow infusion as part of its preparation.
Cold Brew
A coffee-inspired direction with peppermint and a cooling menthol sensation.
After Hours
An evergreen character built around pine and blue tansy, with softer herbal-floral notes.
Petal & Peel
Bright citrus, lavender, white tea, and delicate florals for a different everyday scent.
From The First Balm To A Wider Shelf
Farm Silk offers an unscented cloud cream without essential oils. Evermore combines tallow with bakuchiol and botanical oils, while Morning Joe Glow brings a coffee-inspired moisturizer to the range. Healing Helper is another rich moisturizing option, not a promise to heal a medical skin condition.
Fat Lips lip balm lists tallow, mango butter, beeswax, coconut oil, and vitamin E. Simply Tallow soap provides an uncomplicated cleansing choice alongside more scented and exfoliating bars.

The Collection Goes Beyond Tallow Balms
Melissa’s interest in natural cosmetic chemistry also appears in products such as Poreless B3 niacinamide serum, Plump & Pure hyaluronic acid serum, and Photo Finish with botanical extracts.
Bath butters, gel masks, conditioner bars, and magnesium products broaden the range. They do not all share the same ingredients or use instructions, so choose the specific product rather than assuming the vendor name tells the whole formula story.
The collection illustrates what Melissa means by continuing to learn: familiar ingredients can sit beside modern cosmetic ingredients, each chosen for a particular role.
Still Learning, Still Grateful
Melissa credits the people who supported her journey and gives God the glory for the opportunities it brought. That gratitude keeps the story personal, even as the range becomes larger than she first imagined.
